Restore Urine Stained Terrazzo Bathroom Floors
Problem
Many grocery store chains provide quality facilities and amenities. Recently, one of those chains began renovation of its terrazzo restroom floors. The objective is to restore the floors to like-new condition applying a new topcoat that can withstand the high traffic, water, and urine staining common to restroom floors. Solution
DiamaPro® UV-HS Plus is an innovative, urethane-based concrete/terrazzo/VCT protective coating. It is impervious to scuffing, peeling, and the abrasion of high traffic areas. DiamaPro UV-HS Plus is also highly resistant to staining and attack from organic chemicals, and is ideal for cafeterias, gyms, locker rooms and restrooms. The coating is infused with Microban® antimicrobial technology to help prevent the growth of stain and odor-causing bacteria. Routine disinfecting is all that is needed to ensure a sanitized restroom floor.
Just as important, DiamaPro UV-HS Plus instantly cures when exposed to ultraviolet light. Unlike traditional coatings, there is no waiting for hours or days for the coating to cure. Floors are ready for normal traffic immediately after the installer runs the curing light over the wet material. DiamaPro UV-HS Plus is easy to install and inherently safe. It has a coefficient of friction that exceeds National Floor Safety requirements. The coating has a zero VOC content and is virtually odor-free. It’s a one-part system so no measuring or mixing is required.
The restroom project called for grinding the terrazzo floor to remove existing wax, stains, and imperfections. Two coats of DiamaPro UV-HS Plus were applied after the surface preparation step and instantly cured with a portable UV light.
